Areas of Research and Development

The Occupational Safety Research Institute (OSRI), public research institute, wants to develop its research and development program systematically to conduct, analyze and solve new challenges and problems in changing world of work in connection with future trends, transformations in the world of work, new technologies, processes, societal changes, which arise in connection with the work and environment in the Czech Republic.

These are mainly 3 areas in which there are a number of current topics:

  • risk prevention of new technologies, materials and work systems,
  • risk prevention related to their classical effects, which currently remain a problem, or the effects of these risks are deepening in practice,
  • monitoring of the state of risk prevention and occupational safety and health (OSH), psychosocial risk factors and use of system and knowledge approaches.

These areas of research and development fully respect the Research, Development and Innovation Policy of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs for 2017-2023, with a view to 2025, starting with priority objectives and themes in the field of occupational safety and health and employment. Furthermore, these topics appear to be priority for the next period up to 2030. These topics are elaborated according to the priority specifications, both for application within research projects under the institutional support of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and under the BETA2 and ETA programs within the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. In connection with this, participation in international consortia in these issues is expected.
