History of NB 1024

State Testing Laboratory No. 235 started working in the Occupational Safety Research Institute  in 1968. The subject of its activity was testing of selected personal protective equipment (PPE), later also temporary building structures (DSK) – scaffolding.

The VÚBP-ZL Testing Laboratory No. 1040 has been accredited by the ČIA since 1993. Since 1999, the accredited certification body VÚBP-COV No. 3068 has been operating here for product certification.

Since 1997 OSRI has been authorized by ÚNMZ for activities in conformity assessment of products pursuant to Government Regulation No. 21/2003 Coll., Laying down technical requirements for personal protective equipment, with the right to use the designation Authorized Person 235. Decision No. 35/2001 of On June 18, 2001 VÚBP was also authorized to use the designation of Notified Body No. 1024, which means that its certificates and results of conformity assessment are recognized in the European Union countries.

On 27.2.2007 the authorization was updated for OSRI as a public research institution by decision of ÚNMZ under number 1/2007.

On February 7, 2012, at the request of the RIBM, the scope of authorization was reduced by the decision of the ÚNMZ No. 4/2012 on conformity assessment of PPE for eye and face protection and PPE for foot protection. The reason was the low interest of customers in these areas.

Since 14 March 2018, the RIBM, v. I. Is the notified body 1024 for Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parliament and of the Council on personal protective equipment and repealing Council Directive 89/686 / EEC. In accordance with this Regulation expired on 20.4. The validity of the authorization and the OSRI acts only as a Notified Body 1024. This does not mean any significant restrictions for customers, their certificates remain valid and will be kept informed of any changes in the conformity assessment procedures.
