Description: | The new European Union Erasmus Plus programme (hitherto known as Erasmus) combines all current EU funding schemes for education, training and youth, including the Lifelong Learning Programme (Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius, Grundtvig), the Youth in Action programme and five international cooperation programmes (Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Alfa, Edulink and the programme of cooperation with industrialized countries). The Erasmus plus programme serves the fields of education, training, youth and sport. It aims to support the possibility of studying and gaining work experience or volunteering abroad. Erasmus Plus aims to increase the quality and adequacy of qualifications and capabilities. Two-thirds of all the programme’s resources are intended for scholarships for more than 4 million people to study, train, work or volunteer abroad in 2014-2020. The stay abroad can last from a few days to a year. The programme is open to students, teachers, volunteers, youth leaders and officials of amateur sports organizations. Funding may also be provided for partnerships between educational establishments, youth organizations, enterprises, local and regional authorities and non-governmental organisations. It brings many innovations for the area of higher education. Under the Erasmus Plus programme, university graduates can take opportunity for the first time to travel abroad for a study visit even without a student status. |
