Notified bodies

Notified Bodies carry out conformity assessment activities under European Regulation (EU) 2016/425. They issue EU type-examination certificates in accordance with Module B for PPE classified in Category II and III, carry out checks for PPE classified in Category III according to Module C2 or D. Notified Bodies (OS) in the Czech Republic previously used the designation AO (Authorized Body) . OSs coordinate their activities in order to unify requirements for tested and certified products. Coordination takes place at European and national level. A consistent approach to customers helps build their trust in the certification system, resulting in safe products that meet the essential health and safety requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425.

Representatives of the Czech notified bodies meet at national coordination meetings, where positions and procedures for meeting the requirements of the Regulation (EU) and harmonized standards are harmonized. The regular organization of coordination meetings enables the maintenance of a uniform approach in the provision of conformity assessment services for personal protective equipment and guarantees their professional level. All interested notified bodies can thus respond in time to possible modifications of procedures agreed at European level, prepare joint opinions on European proposals of various recommendations, etc. Representatives of the Czech Trade Inspection, State Labor Inspection Office and representatives of manufacturers and importers of PPE also participate in the coordination meetings.
