Description:In the first part of the project, the aim is to evaluate the increase in the parental allowance and the changes in its eligibility from January 2020 on household behaviour with an emphasis on the extensive and intensive margin. In the second part of the project, the aim is to use a questionnaire experiment to answer two specific questions. The first is to assess the role of awareness of the consequences of parental leave for subsequent labour market participation on the choice of duration of absence from the labour market. The second question is the role of the availability of pre-school institutional care on the choice of the length of absence from the labour market due to parenthood and the willingness to have another child.
In addition, a questionnaire survey plus empirical analysis of individual data from the Czech Statistical Office – Labour Force Sample Survey will be conducted using the difference-in-differences econometric method.
All research activities will be carried out in cooperation with the Centre for Economic Research and Graduate Education of Charles University.
